Best Transport Museum
Mumbai
Museum
The BEST Transport Museum was set up in 1984 at BEST’s Kurla depot, but was later shifted to Anik depot in 1993. It features amateur mini models of BEST buses and the ancient trams. The museum fascinating as it has been badly kept. It is a very old museum and it has always got a positive response from the visitors. Here, the entry is free but few know of its existence. Even the city’s well-traveled bus conductors have never heard of the museum. The Museum is open to the public from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The museum traces the evolution of BEST. It houses the amateur mini models, hand-written placards in Marathi and dust-layered photographs. You can also catch the historical significance of BEST. Tram benches have backrests that turn inside out. A must visit to get a feel of the local culture. One can easily appreciate the importance of BEST and developments that have taken place in Mumbai with regards to ground transportation.
