Flora Fountain is beautifully sculpted as Roman architectural pattern which is situated at the Hutatma Chowk the southern sector of Dadabhai Naoroji Road. In 1864 it was erected as a Roman heritage monument. It is a blend of water, architecture and sculpture, and illustrates the Roman goddess Flora. It was build up by the Agri-Horticultural Society of Western India and was carefully framed by R. Norman Shaw. The total cost of this monument incurred at Rs. 47,000, or 9000 pounds sterling.
Flora Fountain has been declared a heritage structure that continues to soothe the passers-by its spray of water. No one can remain untouched with the hypnotic aura of Flora Fountain which is aesthetically architectured with white marble statue & has a jutting fountain that add sense to the chaos that surrounds this commercially active place.
Crafted out of imported Portland stone, today, this magnificent fountain has been coated with white oil paint. Encircled by imperial colonial buildings, the fountain still depicts the times of the Raj. In short, Flora Fountain is Mumbai's famous landmark that definitely deserves a visit.
