Mumbai

Museum

Taraporewala Aquarium is situated along the Marine Drive in Mumbai. It has a good collection of sea and fresh water fishes and other marine life. Its Management is planning to convert this beautiful monument into an underwater spot, from where one can enjoy the beauty of the marine life. This Aquarium was formally opened by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the 1st President of India, in 1951. It is now under the Government of Maharashtra.

This Aquarium houses exotic marine life and rare species of fishes and also some exquisite pearls. It is one of the best aquariums to be seen for Sea life and Marine fish.

The aquarium has three large rooms where fishes are displayed in such a manner as to highlight the attractiveness of their appearance. The large tanks have sharks, octopuses, kite fishes and the smaller tanks display corals, worms, sea flowers and sea horses. Pearls, shells and articles crafted from shells are also displayed here.

Visitors are allowed from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on weekdays and on Sunday the timings are Morning 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Mondays are always closed.
